Got given a 19 year old Glenmorangie single empty bottle with a good double left in, and a great cork vessel.

Her Indoors was going to do Hunters Chicken last night so I picked up a cheap red in Asda , South African Shiraz , Yellowwood reduced to £4.68 , intended only for cooking , however although a bit strong at 13% we tasted it and it was so nice we drank half the bottle last night and the rest tonight . We still havn't had the Hunters Chicken due to fickle recipe choices . The true bonus was that after finishing it , I soaked the bottle;e in the sink for about an hour and the labels just floated off . Joy .

Just enjoying a spot of Chilean Cab Sauv on our return from Venice where we mainly opted for the house red, two were very good, one was not bad but very "fresh"!(barely finished) apparently a local favourite? any way no harm done, in another restaurant(down a tiny alley with tables in a very small courtyard) that had just been taken over by some young guys, we asked if the house red was any good and they said NO! the white is very good but not the red that came with the stock, so we ordered a local Cabernet Franc that was very good and not much more than the house wine price; it was the craziest night of the trip (bearing in mind that we went with six of our Irish relatives and every night was "interesting") there was much humorous interaction with the waiters involving free drinks(genuine, I checked the bill), my tip would be have a look down the dark alleys near St Marks square and be prepared for some shenanigans. Beautiful historic city, been five times, we stayed at Hotel San Zulian, they catered well for me Gluten Free, quite a few years ago, did you have to walk the planks ? Plenty of exercise touring the back streets, waterbus day tickets the answer to visiting the islands, never been on the gondola rides.
Coffee St.Marks 12 Euro, round the corner 100 metres, 2 euro, don't know how much nowadays.
Glad you had a great time.

My second visit Tom, only 50 years apart! We did Air BnB, a nice apartment close to the Rialto bridge, lots of walking 10,500 to 18,000 steps per day, did the islands with guided tour for 15Eu with an elder concession ticket(student rate for the wee girls), gondola trip is better if you go early evening/late afternoon(cheaper), only needed the boards for St Marks but saw the water comming up through the drains in the square.
My cousin is coeliac and was looked after very well everywhere but not at the small bar opposite the apartment so we left them to it.

Anyhoo currently enjoying a glass of Chilean Merlot. Wink

This evening we are enjoying a nice bottle of  Cranberry & Apple, which I made at the end of last year. I was hoping for a Rose, but I ended up with a slightly pink white  Grin

I made this one with frozen Cranberries from Morrisons. I used those instead of juice because most Cranberry juices have very few Cranberries in them.
