Oh no!!
Sep 12th, 2017 at 4:59pm

I've just realised while making 3 gallons of blackberry, as above post, when I added the water which I have bought in PETs I've put in 5 litres of Milton for sterilising my Demi johns. Is this going to be safe to drink or will I have to start again.  Embarrassed

Dav, Mate I feel your pain!... Grin Grin Grin, sorry, if it was 5litres neat Milton! dump it smartly and begin again; if on the other hand it was a capful in 5lt water carry on regardless, Milton is only a 2% solution of sodium hypochlorite (bleach; bactericide, fungicide and messes up viruses pretty bad)... and should dissipate during fermentation, add some extra acid if you like to adjust the PH downwards, could be wrong but not often. Wink
PS, hope the yeast survives. Undecided

1 tablet in 5 litres its bubbling vigorously in a 5 gallon drum so hopefully will be ok. Thank you once again.
