Should I add pectolase to mushroom wine?
Jun 2nd, 2018 at 9:10am

Just a quick question... I'm just wondering if any one would know if I should add pectolase  to my mushroom wine.  I made a batch up and totally forgot about pectolase.  Now I am wondering if I should add some to the must..

James, there is no pectin in mushrooms so don't bother, I can't help wondering why you are making it unless it is for some culinary purpose? always remember the golden rule, "just because you can ferment it does not mean that you should" Wink
I would love to know how it turns out, keep us posted. Smiley

Strange indeed. Be interested to hear how that turns out.
If you need pectolase for one of the other ingredients, don't worry, just bung it in anyway.
Errrm, what sort of mushrooms are these, if you get my drift.

Just using regular button mushrooms, for this test run at least...  It's smelling great at the moment, having a really strong ferment and I reckon it's going to come out really well.

Hoping it might work out as well as my seaweed wine Smiley

I might post up the recipe over on the other section of the boards.

If it's running true to form then I doubt he will, preferring to keep us in the dark on such matters. Wink
